Systems for Engine Air Intake
| As in any I.C engine, the Railway diesel locomotive also requires clean air for its
I.C engine. Anfilco has a range of filtration systems suitable for 2600
HP (WDM2), 2900 (WDM2C) Loco, 3100HP (WDG2/2A) Loco and 4000HP (WDG4)
Locomotives. Air intake for these locomotives are 3.1 m3/sec and 3.4 m3/sec. |

The entire filtration system comprises of the Primary
filters (pre cleaners), Primary filter rame, Secondary filter, Secondary
filter casing, Connections to suit any type of turbo super charger, the
Bleed air blowers (AC and DC) and suitable Piping. All requisite hardware
is part of the supplies.
Diesel Locomotive Works (Varanasi), Diesel Component Works (Patiala) and
Golden Rock Workshop (Trichy) are the users of our above systems and Anfilco
is the largest suppliers to these customers.
Spares/Consumables for Filtration Systems
Primary Filters
For 04 bag / 04 panel type systems.
The primary filters are as per RDSO design with Nylon-6 tubes. Fire retardant
polypropylene tubes are also available on requirements. The gaskets would
be joint-less neoprene grade single types.
For 06 panel type older design systems.
a) For WDM2 – 64 tubes as per RDSO/DLW drawings
b) For WDG2 – 75 tubes as per RDSO/DLW drawings
Secondary Filters
Bag filters (600 / 458mm length)
The media pack would consist of two layers of glass fibre 100 mm thick,
G4 media with a backing of synthetic fire retardant G4 media compressed
between fibre glass mesh.
Flow rate: 3060/1200CMH per bag
Efficiency: 99%
No. of bags per locomotive: 4/6
Substitutes: FARR, AAF, and CLARK
Secondary Glass Fibre Filters ( WDM2/WDG2 )
The media pack would consist of three layers of glass fibre 100 mm thick
G4 fire retardant imported media compressed between fibre glass mesh and
woven glass fibre cloth.
Flow rate: 1860/2040CMH per panel
Efficiency: 99%
No. of panels per locomotive: 6
Secondary Glass Fibre Filters ( Deep design )
The media pack would consist of three layers of glass fibre 100 mm thick
G4 fire retardant imported media compressed between fibre glass mesh and
woven glass fibre cloth.
Flow rate: 3060CMH per panel
Efficiency: 99%
No. of panels per locomotive: 4
Service Indicators
Camfil-FARR make service indicators – 25” are available.
These are used to check the differential pressure drop across the filters.
Inertial Type Carbody Filtration System
The complete systems are used on diesel electric locomotive for ventilation
air for the cabin cooling.
A typical system comprises of four inertial type self cleaning maintenance
free panels. Each panel has a total capacity of 7200 cfm and an operational
efficiency of 85-90% with a 10% bleed, which is provided by a set of AC
or DC dust exhauster blowers.
GD 80 D/E Oil Free Filters and Housings
These filters along with or without housings are used in all locomotive
air brake ystems. These adhere to RDSO Specification no. SKDP 3453 and
3454.
Filtration Systems for Electro Mechanical Units (EMUs)
Anfilco has also the complete filtration solutions to EMUs in its
range. Panel Type two stage and Inertial Type single stage are the existing
products. New design can be developed for specific requirements.
Anfilco’s systems are presently in use in the Western Railways AC/DC
EMUs supplied by ICF Chennai and ALSTOM, Mumbai.
Apart from the above small list, new product development is the strength
and specific product custom made.
